## Summary Following an investigation into the previous attempts to use the existing SaaS Runner architecture and digging deeper into how Runners work, we have determined that the CI-based, job-focused approach is not a good match for a GitLab-managed remote development solution. We can learn a lot from how Runners are architected and we will have overlap in the way we price and package our offering, but it would be more work to extend and hack on the runner architecture than it would be to stand up a new service specifically catered to our needs.
