Our GitLab strategic goals includes enabling CI usage from existing customers and making GitLab.com a leader in SaaS-delivered software development platforms. Today, users and customers on GitLab.com that need to build CI jobs for Apple products can only do so after having configured self-managed macOS Runners. For some, this means purchasing and maintaining a Mac Mini on-premise to host the Runner. Additionally, the lack of macOS build capability has increased friction for some users of GitLab as they adopt CI/CD on the GitLab platform. Resolving this feature gap is required to support GitLab's strategic goals.
