Consolidated boards view of work items
## Summary Currently, users must navigate to different areas of GitLab to access different types of boards (epic boards, issue boards), creating unnecessary context switching and cognitive overhead. We will consolidate these experiences into a single, unified board view where users can seamlessly filter and switch between work item types. This consolidation aligns with our broader [work items vision of providing consistent, flexible ways to view and manage work across GitLab](https://gitlab.com/groups/gitlab-org/-/epics/5516). Ultimately, the unified boards experience will be accessed through the new Work Items navigation item, eliminating the need for separate board pages and simplifying the GitLab interface. ### User Value - **Simplified Navigation**: Users no longer need to remember navigate to different options or switch contexts to view different work item types. All boards are accessible from a single, intuitive location. - **Consistent Experience**: The consolidated view provides a uniform experience for filtering, saving views, and managing work items, regardless of the type of work being viewed. This consistency reduces learning curve and increases productivity. - **Flexible Workflows**: Teams can create custom views that combine different work item types to match their specific workflows. For example, a team could create a view showing epics and their related issues for program increment planning, or focus on issues and tasks for sprint execution. - **Better Cross-team Collaboration**: Saved views can be shared across teams, making it easier to standardize workflows and maintain visibility across the organization. Teams can switch between strategic and tactical views without losing context.
