For the 2024 release the minimum pairlist pruning interval was increased from 4 to 10. This was to reduce the overhead of the pruning kernel cost. But this decision was based on setting with smooth Coulomb cut-off (PME). For other settings, such as reaction-field, there can be a 5% performance loss.
