gmx solvate/genion create topol.top with 600 permissions
A persistent annoyance when sharing/debugging Gromacs simulations between multiple users is that on Linux (and perhaps other platforms), gmx solvate
and gmx genion
create topology files without world-readable permissions. If one has root privileges those permissions can be overridden, but that is not an option for normal users. Notably, both gmx pdb2gmx
and gmx editconf
create/modify topology files with what I would argue are the correct permissions (i.e. 644
). It would be great if gmx solvate
and gmx genion
could be changed to behave like gmx pdb2gmx
and gmx editconf
.
