Request: Please tag a new micro version within a reasonable timeframe after substantial bug fixes
Most linux distros don't ship updated packages unless a new (micro or mini) version is released, which means fixes aren't shipped to users until fixes are included in a new version. wget2 git has already fixed two major issues since 2.2.0:
1372b172 "--no-use-server-timestamps is ignored"
ad80bf39 "--no-clobber is ignored"
Those fixes were commited in 2024-12, and from my POV they addressed major bugs.
But even though the issues were fixed 8 months ago, they have not reached popular GNU/linux distros because no minor/micro version has been release since then. Note that it's also safer to ship just a new micro version for fixes, since distros may otherwise hold off on even minor version bumps, until a new version of the distro comes out (could mean a year, for some release cycle).
So, please tag 2.2.1 soon.
Thank you.
