Detailed steps to reproduce the problem:
Physical terminals used to offer a smooth scroll mode, where lines would scroll up one scanline at a time instead of one character cell at a time, as is the norm these days. This provided a much nicer user experience, at the expense of some extra time it took to reach the end of the file.
- python3 -c "print('\x1b[?4l')"
- for i in $(seq 30); do echo $i; done
What happened:
The screen jumped up one character line at a time.
What should have happened:
The screen should smoothly scroll up, one scanline at a time, at approximately 6 character lines per second.
