Use MacOS System Preference Modifier Keys exchange CMD and option, the option key doesn't work in iTerm2
Thanks for filing an issue! Please answer the questions below so I can help you.
- iTerm2 version: iTerm2 3.3.5
- OS version: 10.15
Detailed steps to reproduce the problem:
- Mac -> System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Modifier Keys -> set CMD and option
- enter iTerm2, type
option + key, it will type some special character, eg.
option + x = '≈'
What happened: when I use emacs in iTerm2, the option key doesn't work is a big trouble. But if I set System Preferences -> keyboard -> modifier keys as default, and use iTerm2 -> Perferences -> keys -> Remap modifiers exchange CMD and option, it works well.
What should have happened: when use macos's system preferences exchange CMD and option, it works like I set it in iTerm2's Preferences.
ps: I find a way to solve this problem, set iTerm2 -> Perferences -> keys -> Remap modifiers, exchange CMD and option, at the same time, remap the right option -> left option, the left option will work well. But this is counterintuitive.
