Frequently get "This already-running session was restored but its contents were not saved" message and out-of-order tabs with 3.3.0 beta updates
- iTerm2 version: Currently 3.3.0beta13 but this has happened consistently throughout the 3.3.0 beta series
- OS version: 10.14.5 (but has happened in earlier Mojave versions)
I've read https://iterm2.com/why_no_content.html and I have the "Use System Window Restoration Setting" option enabled. I have the "Close windows when quitting an app" option off. Keeping my existing session across updates used to work 100% of the time in iTerm versions prior to 3.3.0 but now fails probably 90% of the time with the 3.3.0 series. I've been running betas for years at this point.
Every time this happens, the tabs in the restored window are in the wrong order. When it works, the tabs are in the right order.
Detailed steps to reproduce the problem:
- Install update when the update dialog box pops up.
- iTerm says it will restore sessions after update happens
- Type password into the dialog that pops up that says that autoupdater wants to make changes to the system
What happened:
iTerm restores the window, but the tabs are out of order and every tab displays "This already-running session was restored but its contents were not saved." Also, this yellow banner covers up the text underneath it, so until you dismiss it you don't realize there's something there. It also does not update the tab title from the default, presumably because the prompt command hasn't run again.
What should have happened:
Tabs are restored with their contents when possible, but the tabs should always return in the correct order even when it can't.
I didn't get a debug log, but I will enable it and attach it the next time an update is available. If you need any other info please let me know. Thanks!
