Fonts are thinner and harder to read with GPU rendering

After the last update (unfortunately not sure from which version that was, but I think very recent), text is displayed a lot thinner and very hard to read. This is immediately fixed by disabling the GPU renderer.

This is a 15" mid-2013 Macbook Pro with Retina display.

Profiles->Text->Use thin strokes for AA is "Never". Enabling this in any way makes it even worse.
