Handling Colors when using the Metal renderer
Thanks for filing an issue! Please answer the questions below so I can help you.
- iTerm2 version: 3.2.0beta6
- OS version: 10.12.6
- Attach com.googlecode.iterm2.plist here (drag-drop from finder into this window)
- Attach a debug log, if possible. Instructions at https://iterm2.com/debuglog
- Are you reporting a performance issue or a hang? Please attach a sample. Instructions at https://gitlab.com/gnachman/iterm2/wikis/HowToSample
- Are you reporting a crash? Please attach the crash log. Instructions at https://gitlab.com/gnachman/iterm2/wikis/crash-logs
- Are you reporting excessive memory usage? Please attach a heap analysis: https://gitlab.com/gnachman/iterm2/wikis/heapshot
Detailed steps to reproduce the problem:
- Open iTerm 3.1 and 3.2 beta
- Enable Metal rendering in 3.2
- Put the same text in both iTerms and use bright colors for the text
- Check the color: It's different when using the Metal renderer. It's especially noticeable on wide color gamut screens (like newer iMacs).
What happened: Colors aren't the same
What should have happened: Colors should be the same.
I'm pretty sure this is b/c the displays color profile is used in the traditional renderer while the Metal renderer doesn't take the displays color profile under consideration.
