Default shortcut for Toggle Full Screen is non-standard
The default keystroke
- iTerm2 version: 3.2.0beta3
- OS version: Mac OS X 10.12.6 (16G1314)
- Attach ~/Library/Preferences/com.googlecode.iterm2.plist here (drag-drop from finder into this window) com.googlecode.iterm2.plist
Detailed steps to reproduce the problem:
- Launch iTerm2 in non-fullscreen mode.
- Press ⌘⌃F.
- Press ⌘↵.
What happened: After step 2, nothing happened, despite ⌘⌃F being the standard shortcut used for this action across all system apps. After step 3, iTerm2 toggled to fullscreen.
What should have happened: After step 2, iTerm2 should have toggled to fullscreen. After step 3, nothing should have happened.
The shortcut should have been editable in Preferences > Keys, but instead it needs to be changed in System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts, which is more hassle and not known by so many users — and this method doesn't provide a way of disabling a shortcut altogether (though this is Apple's fault, obviously).
The default should have been the standard ⌘⌃F shortcut as this is what users expect from Safari, Mail etc — isn't Alt-Enter the Windows CMD.EXE keystroke for this action? Mac apps should really default to doing things the Mac way, not the Windows way…
Please could the default be changed, or at the very least the keystroke made configurable from within the app's preferences? (Preferably with an option to disable the shortcut altogether, so that fullscreen is only toggled from the green button).
Thanks!
