Hide the "Search box" after pressing again Cmd+F
- iTerm2 version:
- all Versions
OS version: Mac os X Sierra
Attach ~/Library/Preferences/com.googlecode.iterm2.plist here (drag-drop from finder into this window) (not relevant)
Attach a debug log, if possible. Instructions at https://iterm2.com/debuglog (not relevant)
Detailed steps to reproduce the problem:
- Press Cmd+F to search for something
- see the matches on the console
- Press Cmd+F again to hide the search box and return focus to the terminal
Search Box does not close, and focus does not return to terminal
What should have happened:
Search Box should have closed, and focus should return to termina.
As keyboard-only users, (which I think most developers and Iterm2 users are), it is very annoying that you have to go to the Mouse/trackpad in order to close the search box and return focus to the terminal, where you are programming or inspecting log files.
In previous versions, that was the behaviour, and it was ideal. At some point in time, this behaviour ceased, and you need to click the X button in the search box to close it and return to programming.
This is very painful, since you need to leave the keyboard JUST to close the Search Box, this makes a programmer lose a lot of time for no (little) reason.
Thus I beg you implement this feature: Close the Search Box when Cmd+F is pressed again when the Search Box is open, and return focus to Terminal.
