iTerm2 cannot assign a hotkey combination to restore a non-default window arrangement
-
iTerm 2 version: 3.0.4
-
OS version: OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)
-
Attach ~/Library/Preferences/com.googlecode.iterm2.plist here (drag-drop from finder into this window) com.googlecode.iterm2.plist
-
Attach a debug log, if possible. Instructions at https://iterm2.com/debuglog N/A
-
Are you reporting a performance issue or a hang? No
Detailed steps to reproduce the problem:
-
Save two window arrangements. One of them will be the default (A). One will not (B).
-
Attempt to assign a hotkey combination to open the non-default one (B).
- Navigate (menus): iTerm2 -> Preferences
- Click: Keys tab
- Click: '+' below list of hotkeys
- Press a desired hotkey combination, e.g. shift+alt+cmd+r
- In Action drop-down list, choose "Select Menu Item..."
- In new, unlabeled drop-down list, scroll until you find the contents of the "Window" menu.
- Find the "Restore Window Arrangement" sub-menu.
- Note that only 1 window arrangement (the default, which already has a hotkey assigned by default) is offered.
What happened:
It is impossible to assign a hotkey to anything other than the default window arrangement.
What should have happened:
I should have been able to assign a hotkey combination to restore the other window arrangement.
Background information:
I use a default window arrangement which comes up when I start iTerm2. It is the arrangement in which I read mail (in a window the full height of my desktop) and various other tasks.
On other Spaces, I open an arrangement with 6 equally sized terminal windows which I call "6-Up". I don't want that to be the arrangement which opens first, on my first desktop, but I do want it to be an arrangement I can open on other desktops (Spaces).
It is a bit of a waste of time to have to use the mouse to navigate through menus, finding the right sub-menu and sub-menu entry to open a set of terminals, so I would very much like to assign it a hotkey combination.
Screenshots showing the Window menu with both arrangements, and attempting to assign a hotkey combination showing only one of them:
