Courier New Bold doesn't look right

What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Set Courier New 12pt as font for both non-ascii and ascii
- Open a terminal session to something that displays bolded text
- See the difference between the bolded font in 0.9.6 vs 0.10 and 0.20, mostly in letters such as m and w.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see the same bolded font as I did in 0.9.6. It seems there is a slight variation between the lowercase m and other similar letters (M, U, W, w). On 0.9.6 the overhanging lip on such characters was dropped, seemingly for legibility, as I'd rather see a pixel spacing between the hoops in M, m, w, W, etc. Not sure if the font, OSX or iTerm is to blame, but 0.9.6 on the same box as 0.20 results in differently-bolded characters. All of the non-bolded characters look the same. I can provide more screenshots if necessary.
Maybe iTerm is using a different method of font display between 0.9.6 and 0.10 (and thus 0.20). I had the same/similar issue in 0.10.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.20.20100901 on Mac Pro 10.6.4
