Using VI in an iTerm2 window seems to permanent mess up the window size and scrolling
Required information for bugs. I probably can't help you unless you include this:
- iTerm2 version : 2.1.4 (and earlier)
- OS version : OSX Yosemite host, remote linux target is CenOS 6.5 (via SSH)
- Attach ~/Library/Preferences/com.googlecode.iterm2.plist here
- Attach a debug log (https://iterm2.com/debuglog) : didn't know I had one ...com.googlecode.iterm2.plist
I regularly use iTerm2 from my mac to SSH into target linux and openSolaris machines. On "most" of my linux machines, if I forget and use vi on that machine, my terminal handling gets screwed up. A primary symptom - after getting out of vi, I can no longer down all the way to the bottom of the window, it starts scrolling when I'm half way down the window.
The windows stays messed up even after I close the SSH session and return to local use.
I suspect that it is something that gets set via linux TERMCAP settings for xterm-256color, but so far I have been unsuccessful at resolving the issue.
Any help / hints would be greatly appreciated!!
