Auto Rearrangement of Panes OR Broadcast to Multiple Windows

Hi,
i have a large screen and need to
A) see / work in many server sessions at the same time
B) have keyboard input multiplexed to more than one server session
C) constantly change which portion of the screen a session window occupies, e.g. when I analyze a logfile I make the portion bigger than it was when I just want to see it tailing stuff out.
D) need to have a possibility to easily restore the initial arrangement, i.e. get back a nice grid of evenly sized session windows after I completed a task and want to start the next.
In Terminal.app I use csshx for that, get 16 terminals on the screen and after too much resizing chaos rearrange them nicely with Strg-A + r to initial sizes, all occupying the screen evenly.
In iterm2 I searched now quite a bit but I can't find a way to do it:
- If I use different windows I get requirement D somewhat ok (Arrange Windows Horizontally, allthough not multirow grid, could help myself with an apple script maybe) but then I don't get B, multiplexing only works within
one window as it seems.
- If I use ONE window with multiple panes (which I would favor) I don't get the re-arrange feature (Restore Arrangement opens NEW sessions, so I would loose my state, no option).
I also can't help myself with an apple script since I can't access pane sizes within apple script as it seems.
So as much as I would love all the other features of iterm, this one prevents it from being usable for me, it would take too much time to all the time drag 16 panes around so that they are in an evenly sized grid again.
Did I overlook something, is it possible? Or is my working style so strange ;-) ?
Cheers,
G.
