Underlining doesn't match up

I've been noticing this issue a lot in emacs lately. When text is bold, the underlining gets messed up. I know this is an iTerm bug and not an emacs bug because the underlining doesn't even line up with the characters correctly (as you can see in the screenshot, the underline starts in the center of the "x" on the next line). I'm not sure if the text is supposed to be underlined (or if my TERM even supports it), or if it's just supposed to be bold. I'm using your xterm-256color-italic TERM.
This is with Build 1.0.0.20130914-nightly.
Moving the cursor around changes the underline. The offset doesn't seem to be constant, though it does always seem to be to the left of the text it should be under.
