Provide a keys preset to make Iterm2 work like a regular OS X app

Every time I install ITerm2 on a new machine I go through a few hours of googling exactly how to make the usual OSX keyboard navigation work. This is partly my fault for not writing it down or saving my preferences.plist somewhere, still I think it should be provided already.
I mean particularly:
alt left/right: jump word
cmd left/right: start/end of line
(I'm glad to see that the Terminal.app compatibility preset now handles ctrl+tab to cycle tabs and gives a normal numeric keypad as I used to have to do these too.)
The wiki page here http://code.google.com/p/iterm2/wiki/Keybindings talks about adding mappings to inputrc but I'm pretty sure the time I did it this way it didn't work when you're ssh'd to a server.
Pretty sure I've subsequently done it via ITerm2 profiles > keys instead and it then works nicely everywhere.
