Invoke specific profiles when starting iTerm2 from command line

I'd like to be able to open iTerm2 windows from the command line using a specific profile. Right now one can open iTerm (if it's not running already) with
open /Applications/iTerm.app
and get the default session. What I'd like to do is something like
open /Applications/iTerm.app -p 'Profile Name'
and get a new window with that profile. I want this for two reasons. One is that I have a number of profiles that include ssh connections to specific hosts, and that's useful in a variety of shell scripts.
Further, there are some systems I want very specific different settings for. As an example, when accessing the serial consoles of LInux hosts I want 24x80, terminal settings more like a legacy PC console than an xterm, larger buffers for the instant replay, and so forth. I already have specific profiles for this purpose and want to invoke such from the command line.
