Inconsistent ugly font

Regression as of r176:
Please see screenshot.
I have the Monaco 10pt font set. This used to be a non-antialiased font, with nice support for basic (latin-1/2) accented characters.
As of r176, the terminal keeps on changing between two fonts, the old one, and another, aliased font.
As I launch a cat command and start typing accented letters, in each line they are in the old font up to the first non-accented letter, when it switches back to the new font. When echoed back, it's all in the new font.
If I highlight some parts with the mouse, all the text keeps on insanely switching back and forth between the two fonts.
The new font has ugly support for the basic accented characters: they do not line up with their non-accented counterparts.
