"Broken pipe" on opening a new session

Detailed steps to reproduce the problem:

2. Open a terminal tab or split pane or window
What happened: "Session ended (broken pipe). Restart it?"
What should have happened: A new tab/window
This is new since I updated from version 3.3.
I found #9113, but I have no running iTermServer processes (or any processes whose name contains iTerm but is not exactly iTerm).
