pidinfo taking 100% CPU
Thanks for filing an issue! Please answer the questions below so I can help you.
- iTerm2 version: Build 3.4.5
- OS version: Mac OS 11.2.3 (20D91)
- Attach com.googlecode.iterm2.plist here
- Attach a debug log, if possible. Instructions at https://iterm2.com/debuglog Will do next time it happens.
- Are you reporting a performance issue, excessive CPU usage, or a hang? Please attach a sample. Instructions at https://gitlab.com/gnachman/iterm2/wikis/HowToSample Will do next time it happens.
Detailed steps to reproduce the problem:
Occasionally (I know, sorry!) a pidinfo
binary spawned by iTerm ends up taking 100% CPU. I can fix the issue by killing it with kill -9 (but not using SIGTERM). My workflow is that I ssh into a remote machine, then run tmux in -CC mode for integration with iterm. I think this might trigger the rogue pidinfo process, but I am not sure.
The binary spawned is: /Applications/iTerm.app/Contents/XPCServices/pidinfo.xpc/Contents/MacOS/pidinfo
Maybe interestingly, it runs as a direct child of launchd, not iTerm.
