Performance on shell spawn
I’m experiencing a significant difference in the time that iTerm takes to spawn a shell compared to other emulators.
My shell itself is not slow, it’s just that iTerm takes a long time to create the new tab (or split), present the last login banner and then start the shell.
For comparison, both Terminal.app and Kitty are around twice as fast with the same shell and config - around the order of ~200ms for iterm and sub-100ms for both Terminal.app and kitty. (I’m not sure how to benchmark this).
I would take a screen recording but that slows down my computer significantly so that it becomes equally slow everywhere.
#7982 (closed) did not help. Trying to set the shell manually instead of using the login shell did not change things either.
Ideas on how to benchmark this would also be appreciated.
