iTerm2 Hangs the Network Connection Every 5 Minutes
Thanks for filing an issue! Please answer the questions below so I can help you.

- Attach ~/Library/Preferences/com.googlecode.iterm2.plist here (drag-drop from finder into this window) com.googlecode.iterm2.plist
- Attach a debug log, if possible. Instructions at https://iterm2.com/debuglog debuglog.txt
- Are you reporting a performance issue or a hang? Please attach a sample. Instructions at iTerm2_hang_process_sample.txt
- Are you reporting a crash? Please attach the crash log. Instructions at https://gitlab.com/gnachman/iterm2/wikis/crash-logs
Detailed steps to reproduce the problem:
- Launch iTerm and start a continuous ping
- Monitor the output for 5 minutes and watch for a period of about 5-7 seconds where packets are dropped then high latency for a few packets, then back to normal
- Wait 5 more minutes and watch step #2 (closed) repeat
What happened: First noticed the issue when my ssh sessions through iTerm seemed to hang "every so often." I use ssh all day, every day. Blamed it on wifi for a few weeks until it was impacting my sanity. Began by pinging my gateway and then noticed the pattern that it happened every 5 minutes. Started closing my other open apps one-by-one and see if had any effect, but nothing resolved it until I launched my ping from the standard OSX terminal and closed iTerm. All other applications were closed by the time I got to closing iTerm. Relaunched iTerm, keeping my ping in Terminal, and within 5 minutes the network issue was back. I thought maybe iTerm was checking for updates, but turning off that preference had no effect. I checked for any obvious network-related preferences, but didn't see anything else that really jumped out to me. This is a relatively new issue, probably within the past 2 weeks or so. Before that it has been working splendidly.
What should have happened: Should not pause network connections every 5 minutes.
