New Tab with Current Profile has illogical placement
Thanks for filing an issue! Please answer the questions below so I can help you.
- iTerm2 version: Build 3.0.14
- OS version: macOS Sierra, 10.12.3
Detailed steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open up several tabs to different hosts 2. Choose the first tab (leftmost), then select Shell ==> New Tab with Current Profile 3. The new tab to that host will be appended to the rightmost position on the tab row
What happened: The new, duplicated tab will be appended to the rightmost position on the tab row, and NOT next to the tab that initiated the action.
What should have happened: Here is where opinion kicks in, because you (and others) might very well not agree with me. But it has been bothering me (in a minor way) for some time now, so I finally decided to open an issue to check on it. In my worthless opinion, if I am duplicating that profile/login, it is more logical to expect it to be placed immediately to the right of the tab I am duplicating (as in, right next to it), and not clear down at the end of the tab row, where I am forced to drag it over every time to keep a logical grouping of host logins.
In my typical workday, I often have concurrent logins on many machines. And when I have to focus in on one in particular, I generally open additional logins to that host (i.e. to tail some logs while running commands in the original window). Keeping all the tabs for a given host grouped together just makes sense. Well, to me anyway.
Thanks!
