iTerm as TotalTerminal replacement

Hi guys,

currently I'm migrating away from TotalTerminal and TotalFinder (forced by El Capitan ... :-().

Total terminal is a HUD terminal like the quake console. With a keystroke it slides in from above, when losing focus it slides out again.

The nice thing is that I can setup iTerm2 that it also offers some kind of HUD terminal. The only downsides so far are:

  • The terminal window can only be full width at the top or it is not centered. Basically I want to have the possibility to have it not full width and centered on screen.
  • Also when shown, and then mission control is invoke, the window is shown there too. Instead it should be hidden/sliding out again, because in when using it as a HUD terminal it's not a regular window from a user perspective.
  • when clicking the dock icon, a new normal window pops up, that's annoying, because it should only show the HUD terminal, which should be the only window possible.

These things are no show stoppers. But still it would be nice to have this as some kind of "use iTerm2 as HUD terminal" functionality.
