Support Cmd+click in a vagrant ssh session

Feature request: I'd love it if iTerm2 supported Cmd+click to open a file in an external editor (e.g., Macvim) from within a Vagrant session. It currently seems to treat Cmd+click as an attempt to open a web browser, even if I clicked on a filename. Perhaps this is because it has trouble tracking the current directory.
I attempted to fix this by appending the following to PS1 in the Vagrant session. It did set the iTerm2 tab title but did not help with Cmd+click:
\e]0;${PWD}\007
Please watch the attached video of what I'm attempting to do.
