Characters being entered into terminal after resuming from sleep

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Resume from sleep
  2. Change focus from iterm to anything else and back
  3. When I click on iterm, it inserts "[I" and when I click out, it inserts "[O"; this only happens on a single tab and it seems to happen only on the tab that was active when my MacBook Air goes to sleep

What is the expected output?
Nothing should be inserted

What do you see instead?
When I click on iterm, it inserts "[I" and when I click out, it inserts "[O"

What version of iTerm2 are you using?
Build 2.0.0.20141022

What OS version are you using?
OS X Yosemite 10.10

Please provide any additional information below.
I am using fish shell as my default shell. Not sure if this matters but I tend to have a tab open and connected to a ssh session which ends up disconnected after sleeping. When I reconnect to the server via SSH, I continue to get the same characters being inserted inside my SSH session so I was thinking that could rule out my shell. I have to close out my iterm instance and restart to stop it from happening.
