Monitor for activity or silence

I used Konsole (part of KDE SC) for many years and using iTerm I've missed these two very useful feature:
- "Monitor for activity" plays a ring in the shell session when there's some activity. This is useful when you launch very long commands (copy file that runs for minutes or hours), because the shell tell you that the commands have completed.
- "Monitor for silence" plays a ring in the shell session when there's no activity for a certain period (e.g. 5 seconds). This is useful when you launch commands with many output and you want to know when the output ends (maybe there's an error).
