iterm2 as desktop background

I would like an option in the preferences to run the iterm2 window as a desktop background. I have my Gentoo system set up like this: The window is fullscreen always-on-bottom, on the window level just above the Desktop level, behind all other applications. It stays on bottom also when given focus, so I can have the terminal in fullscreen and other windows visible and above when typing into the terminal. The terminal is also unregistered from the alt+tab list, since I have a key specifically for giving focus to the terminal.
I work in the terminal a lot, maybe 90% of my time at the computer. My iterm2 is currently set up with a global key to drop down a fullscreen window. In order for me to, say, look up something with firefox, and type into the terminal, I have toclear the section of the terminal where firefox is located, and read though the transparent terminal window as I type. I much prefer my setup as it is on my Gentoo box, where the firefox window will stay above the terminal as I type into it.
