CTRL-SPC and CTRL-RET are not properly detected

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Open Emacs (This happens on all applications running on iterm2, but emacs is an easy way to check this)
Use the M-x describe-key command (C-h k)
Press CTRL-RET or CTRL-SPC

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
C-RET is recognized as RET and C-SPC is recognized as CTRL-@

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I am using Build 1.0.0.20120203 with Mac OS X 10.7.3
