slow vim in iterm2

What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Start Vim in Iterm2 and open a file (like an python script)
- Edit the file a little bit

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The expected thing is that vim should act faster than in current Iterm2.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
20110810 version, the newest up to now, on snow leopard 10.6.
Please provide any additional information below.
At some point (sorry I really can't recall when), vim in Iterm2 started to act slow, at least the delay in response is noticeable by me. I always thought it might be always like this, but I just did experiments in Iterm2 and Terminal.app, I edited the same file, and I can feel that vim in Iterm2.app is indeed slower than that in Terminal.app. For example, if you press "i" then Escape, that means going into "insert mode" and going back to "normal mode", the response of vim in Iterm2 is slower than that in Terminal. I can really feel it.
