delay with ssh/git commands and ssh agent secretive
Performance issue
Thanks for filing an issue! Please answer the questions below so I can help you.
- iTerm2 version: 3.5.0
- OS version: OSX 14.5 (23F79)
- Attach com.googlecode.iterm2.plist
- Attach a debuglog.txt
- Attach a screen capture video if it would make the reproduction steps clearer.
- Please attach a iTerm2_2024-05-21_091537_shGw.sample.txt
PLEASE ATTACH YOUR PLIST FILE FOR BUG REPORTS! Seriously! I'll probably ask you for it if you don’t.
Detailed steps to reproduce the problem
After updating to 3.5.0, I'm seeing 5 or 6 second delays when running a command like git pull - it's related to interacting with a ssh agent process (I'm using https://github.com/maxgoedjen/secretive) and does not occur while doing git commands that do not interact with the agent - eg git status
runs fast as expected, but git pull
on a ssh repo has the delay, but not with a https repo. It also happens with other ssh commands too. This does not occur in other terminal emulators.
- I believe this is related to having a ssh agent process.
- Run a command that interacts with the agent, such as
git pull
. - Observe a delay until the command succeeds.
What happened
Multi-second delay with the command.
What should have happened
It runs in a second or so.
