Add a default icon for tabs when no specific icon is found
Feature Request
Summary
Add a default icon for tabs when no specific icon is found.
Description
In our current user interface, whenever a tab does not have a specific icon, it leaves an empty space which causes the title of the tabs to move slightly. This can be disorienting and inconsistent for the user. Implementing a default icon for such situations would ensure a uniform look across all tabs and improve the visual experience.
Alternatives
- Allowing users to upload custom default icons: This provides personalization, but it adds another layer of complexity and may not solve the issue universally.
- No icon space for tabs without an icon: This would mean that tabs without icons would be tightly spaced with the next tab. This could cause inconsistency in tab design.
Using a default icon for tabs without a specific icon is a superior solution because it maintains a consistent design while also being a simple and elegant fix. Implementing this would not require using the Python API or any other major modifications to the system.
Concerns
- Privacy: No concerns. This feature does not handle or expose any user data.
- Performance: There should be negligible impact. The default icon should be lightweight and optimized for quick rendering.
- Memory: As long as the default icon is optimized, the memory impact should be minimal.
- Complexity: This is a fairly straightforward enhancement and should not introduce significant complexity.
- Is this an instance of a more general problem? This seems to be a specific design inconsistency issue rather than a more general problem.
