beach balled resizing
Bug report
Thanks for filing an issue! Please answer the questions below so I can help you.
- iTerm2 version: 3.4.19
- OS version: 13.3.1
- Attach ~/Library/Preferences/com.googlecode.iterm2.plisthere (drag-drop from finder into this window)com.googlecode.iterm2.plist -- I've censored two fields and object to instructions that don't explain how to review binaries before uploading them to a public tracker
- Attach a debug log, if possible.
- Attach a screen capture video if it would make the reproduction steps clearer.
PLEASE ATTACH YOUR PLIST FILE FOR BUG REPORTS! Seriously! I'll probably ask you for it if you don’t.
Detailed steps to reproduce the problem
- use cypher-shell to connect to a database
- run a command to list all functions (it yielded perhaps 450 records in an impossible to read wrapped form)
- zoom the font out until it was miniscule
- make the window as wide as possible
- double click on the window to make it increase its height to its maximum
- wait a couple of hours as iTerm2 instantly beach balled
What happened
initially iTerm2 beach balled
3 hours later (I have timestamps) macOS showed:

What should have happened
- it should not have beach balled
- it should note have used 150+gb of my memory
This sounds similar to #7451 #6005
The stack trace from macOS does not match: #6800 (closed)iterm2_killed_because_it_ran_macOS_out_of_memory.txt
