cmd+f highlights findings even when iTerm isn't focused

Detailed steps to reproduce the problem

1. Open iTerm2 and Edge
2. CMD+F search for something in Edge that is also in iTerm2
3. Move focus back to iTerm2 and the words are highlighted there

What happened

Words are being highlighted in iTerm2 when searching for them with CMD+F in Edge? This is so bizarre I have never seen this happening anywhere before.
