Incorrect rendering of U+27F6 Long Rightwards Arrow and related characters

Detailed steps to reproduce the problem:
- Paste this character into a shell prompt in iTerm2

(U+27F6 Long Rightwards Arrow)
What happened:
The cursor is rendered on top of the arrow:
What should have happened: The cursor should be rendered to the right of the arrow head.
Other comments: Similar bug with U+27F5 Long Leftwards Arrow and other characters in Supplemental Arrows-A. After entering two space characters, the cursor is rendered in a position that "looks right". Terminal.app doesn't seem to handle it correctly either.
