Document end-to-end process for Pajamas component discovery
Foundations is currently responsible for completing discovery work of components. This includes the following steps:
- Performing accessibility audits on all components.
- Addressing blocking accessibility issues. Blocking issues are issue that change the foundations of how the component is built and would thus require an additional migration effort to complete if changed.
- Creating issues for all component instances.
- Document count of open issues into the tracking issue/dashboard
- Ensuring all component variants are available in gitlab-ui/pajamas.
- Writing necessary migration guides.
Engineering has now caught up to Foundations in terms of picking up migration issues that are ready to migrate, causing Foundations to be more of the bottle neck. In order to relieve pressure on Foundations and speed up migration of Pajamas, we should consider documenting the process of component discovery work in the handbook so that other engineers (or contributors) can help with the discovery process.
