Punctuating list items with both sentence fragments and complete sentences
In discussing gitlab!19691 (merged) with @rdickenson, he noted that the UI strings were mostly sentence fragments (requiring no ending punctuation) but two of the items in the list were complex enough to contain a full sentence AND a following fragment. Example follows:
Parallelism dictates punctuation is all-or-nothing, and while the UI items on this page are not in a single element (such as a bulleted list) they do form a cohesive group.
Questions to answer:
- If a UI text string contains multiple sentences, and can't easily be rewritten to a sentence fragment, is it acceptable to punctuate the full sentence, while leaving the sentence fragment unpunctuated? For example, should the following string have a final period? Includes LFS objects. It can be overridden per group, or per project. 0 for unlimited.
- Should we punctuate the other UI items on the page, since we had to punctuate one?
