Once that MR goes through gstg-cny smoke tests, I will update this issue.

but its smoke-main test is still failing due to a very similar error: https://ops.gitlab.net/gitlab-org/quality/staging/-/jobs/10333731

We realized it is still failing due to mixed-version deploys. The feature flag visible_label_selection_on_metadata turned on in staging was causing it to fail.

I turned it off for now. Once this MR gets deployed to staging, we should turn the feature flag back on.
