Exploring adding a "Customer Testimonials" page to the Reference Architecture docs

We regularly receive questions from customers and colleagues alike when running a Reference Architecture that are on the more subjective side such as how to scale an environment to a specific usage profile or how have others in similar situations tweaked their environments.

Answering these questions can be tough as most if not every customer have a unique mix of requirements and / or usage that need to be taken into account and the more general objective tone of the main Reference Architecture documentation can only cover so much.

However we could explore an "examples" page of how some of our customers have successfully deployed on the Reference Architectures and how they have maintained and tweaked or scaled them to their specific needs accordingly. Such a page would achieve a lot in several areas such as the following:

  • Examples of how to scale a RA based environment based on real data
  • Examples of how how RAs were adapted to more unique scenarios such as large monorepos so others in similar situations can cross reference
  • Each would also be a defacto testimonial for the Reference Architectures for added confidence

The challenge of course is getting the data and permission from customers. However we wouldn't need to name specific customers either and can anonymise accordingly. Ideally though it would be good to possibly be able to share some details such as the customer industry and what they use GitLab for so others can cross reference as well.
