Discussion: Should we have DRIs for package manager formats
Context
The Package Registry currently supports several different package manager formats, each with its own nuances.
Question
Should the Package Registry group have DRIs for each format?
Problem to solve
As the PM, often when I'm doing my first round of triage of a new bug or feature I find that I'm not sure who is the best engineer to ping for further triage or issue refinement. I thought that it might be helpful, at least for triage, if we had an engineer that was dedicated to a specific format. This could help speed up triage and bug resolution.
Proposal
Discuss whether it makes sense to set a DRI for each GA package manager format and to what level? For example, it might make sense just for triage purposes. Or even for development. New npm features can always go to engineer x. New Maven features go to the engineer y.
Caveats
- In the past, we avoided doing this so that each team member could contribute any feature or bug for any format.
