Docs feedback: Missing Guidance for using Pages and Registry
What I am doing
I'm running a GitLab instance in which I use Pages to host websites. For this, I use the Pages setup with custom domains described here: https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/administration/pages/#custom-domains-with-tls-support. I would also like to use Registry.
What is the problem
When setting up Registry as described here: https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/administration/packages/container_registry.html#configure-container-registry-under-its-own-domain, Pages no longer works.
The underlying issue here is that NGINX is set up to listen on one IP for the GitLab instance, and Pages is set up to listen on another. When Registry is turned on, it causes Pages to not be able to bind to its IP.
What I believe needs to happen
I am fairly certain there is a way of configuring this correctly, i.e. in such a way that Registry doesn't block Pages. I have not played around with it long enough to understand how yet, but if I am right, this should be part of the docs.
