Monitor Stage - Remote Only Off-site

Background

Context

We're in the midst of FY2021 planning, and we've recently increased the vision for our Ops Section and Monitor stage groups specifically. One immediate recognition from that exercise was that we needed to focus on workflows, not categories. In order to accelerate that transition, we're getting the UX and Product Monitor stage group members for three focused collaboration days.

Objective & Outputs

The objectives of this remote off-site are:

  1. Document the user workflows the Monitor stage teams will be pursuing in FY2021
  2. Generate a backlog of Problem Validations for the PM/UX Validation Track (based on which new workflow requirements have the highest opportunity)
  3. Prioritize that backlog

As a result we will target the following outputs:

  1. Handbook pages for each of the primary workflows which cover:
    1. Current state of workflow - including current maturity
    2. Future state of workflow
    3. Workflow maturity increment targets
  2. Updated source-controlled workflow visuals
  3. A prioritized opportunity backlog of issues for each workflow

Keep in mind - this is a costly (in terms of our time) exercise. We need to ensure that our outputs are consumable and can be contributed to by others.

Ground Rules

  • Limit distractions
  • All opinions are valid
  • Visualize everything (post-its, sketches, diagrams)
  • Everyone is a peer (i.e., no rank!)
  • One conversation at a time
  • 5 minute rule — if at an in-pass, anyone has the right to ask how the conversation is meeting the workshop objectives
  • Speak for yourself — use “I”, not “you” or “we”
  • Designate time for documenting, we should have concrete outputs to share with broader team
  • Have Fun!
