Provide instructions for renewals and link to them from renewal banners
Overview
In order to provide customers with the best information possible from the renewal banner, we should upate the current link that points to https://about.gitlab.com/pricing/licensing-faq/#self-managed-gitlab and change it to point to https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/subscriptions/#renew-your-subscription
Preparing for your renewal
As you prepare for your upcoming renewal, we recommend these tips for a smooth process.
Prior to renewal
- Identify if you have exceeded your current user limit by viewing the Users Over License widget found in your user statistics panel from
Admin Area -> Overview -> Dashboard
. - If you have exceeded the current user limit, log into the customers portal and select the Add more seats button to purchase the additional users need to avoid paying for true-up users during the renewal process.
Once you're ready to renew
- Prune any inactive or erroneous users by blocking them.
- Determine if you have a need for user growth in the upcoming subscription.
- Log into the customers portal and select the Renew button beneath your existing subscription.
- In the first box, enter the total number of user licenses you'll need for the upcoming year. Be sure this number is at least the number of active users in the system at the time of performing the renewal.
- If you've followed the pre-renewal steps above, you can simply enter
0
in the Users over license box. If you have not, enter the number of true-up users for the overage incurred in the previous term.
