Upgrade points to unlock paid features - module implementation
Hypothesis
Our users and customers may have further questions about the value of a particular locked feature and they may want options on how they can proceed.
Supporting data
Currently in the product, a user can interact with many differently styled upgrade points within the product, (two free .com user examples are listed below). In both cases, the user is presented with two options either to upgrade or learn more, with the 'learn more' option taking them to a support article and out of the upgrade flow.
Solution
We create a universal modal that opens when someone clicks on a locked feature. In this modal, we display information, images, gifs, videos about that feature. To start this modal will have one option to "upgrade now" in future experiments we can iterate on what options are present in the modal including options to start a trial or to speak directly with sales. The modal should understand the source the user is coming from so we know what feature information to display.
Business value
Currently, users are interacting with different styled upgrade points throughout the product, by moving to a single model it will enable us to provide a more cohesive user experience and iterate more quickly within the modal in future experiments. As we will be able to push an experiment to the global modal instead of to specific upgrade points in specific features.
