Add a Integration feature for IRC (two-way sync between gitter room and a designated IRC channel)

https://github.com/gitterHQ/irc-bridge is great to have but it would also be great if the gitter UI provided an Integration for IRC— to support two-way sync/mirroring between a gitter room and a designated IRC channel on freenode or some other IRC server.

What I mean is something pretty much like https://github.com/finnp/gitter-irc-bot but that users don't need to run an instance of themselves—instead the Integration UI would provide a way to set up something similar.

Freenode is the de facto home for many many IRC channels for open source projects. It would be fantastic to be able to automatically add a bridge between a channel and a gitter chatroom for the associated repo.

we need to support freenode. So we're currently logged into both gitter and irc

Sameroom’s IRC integration https://sameroom.io/limitations#irc currently has one serious limitation: “No support for IRC networks without registered nicks (/NickServ).”

Sameroom seems to work. A bigger limitation than the one previously mentioned is that you don't see a list of members when in the IRC channel and vice-versa, but I don't see how one could overcome that.

Sameroom now supports NickServs, however 30 message/day is a deal breaker :( And yes, we need two way bridge to IRC!

By the way you can easily deploy https://github.com/finnp/gitter-irc-bot on heroku for free. Just saying :) You still have to go through the short hassle of getting the bot user and the api key. But it's not that much of a deal.

Yea, our users (and many devs) prefer freenode. so the Sameroom didn't fly. thanks for the suggestion though.

We (the Matrix project; http://matrix.org/) already have nice Matrix <-> Freenode integration working, and I'm currently working on some nicer Matrix <-> Gitter integration, meaning Matrix can act as a nice go-between for all of these (and others - e.g. we have Slack and XMPP in the wings too). A fix for #1076 (closed) would go a long way to making this a really nice experience for users on both sides.

Also check out https://github.com/42wim/matterbridge, a bridge between mattermost, IRC, gitter, xmpp, slack, discord, telegram, rocket.chat,hipchat (via xmpp) and matrix with REST API.
