Show GitLab activity on the GitHub activity page
With GitHub being the "resume and social network of developers", it would be interesting if we could have GitLab plug better into that social network.
For example if a user contributes to open source projects hosted on GitLab.com, finding some method to represent that work in the users GH profile page would help illustrate the impact of that user on open source more broadly.
It doesn't look like there is an API to specifically modify a users GH activity. There are however existing tools that can do fun things with the activity chart: https://github.com/Annihil/github-spray.
Potential solutions
- We should first reach out to GitHub to see if they would be open to this sort of thing
- If not, we could consider writing into a GH repo for a given user, but that would lose the context of the work that was done in GitLab itself.
