[Translation] Keep the Glossary clean
Keep/add only one term in a string
I think that the Glossary should contain only the key terms, important stuff, some proper terms (to note how they should be translated or not translated). Currently, there is ‘2FADevice|Registered On’ which I think should be removed from the Glossary. We could add ‘2FA’, ‘device’, ‘register’ / ‘registered on’, but not all of these strings in one big string.
There are many other strings in the Glossary that should be removed/modified IMO (this is not a complete list; note that I added these strings in code format, because otherwise it would interprete the code):
<strong>%{created_count}</strong> created, <strong>%{accepted_count}</strong> accepted.

<code>"johnsmith@example.com": "@johnsmith"</code> will add "By <a href="#">@johnsmith</a>" to all issues and comments originally created by johnsmith@example.com, and will set <a href="#">@johnsmith</a> as the assignee on all issues originally assigned to johnsmith@example.com.
(Anyway, why is here that email address included? If it is necessary somewhere in thegitlab.pot
, we should use a variable instead.)
Use basic word forms in strings
In strings, we should use basic forms, that is:
-
no extra capitalisation (always use lower-case, unless a word is proper noun or when a particular words has to be capitalised differently);
-
no leading or trailing spaces (gitlab-ce#64199);
Clarify some strings
Take a look at this string: ‘1-9 contributions’. Is this used in the sense of ‘the first nine contributions’?
I think that this particular string should have multiple forms based on number (together with ‘10-19 contributions’, ‘20-29 contributions’ and ‘30 contributions’).
Make a note in the GTW (gitlab-ce#64201 ).
